GENERAL INFORMATION NOTICES on MEDICARE CHANGES for 2024

Big changes are coming for 2024— so please let us help you out in early October!

2024 Medicare Open Enrollment starts October 15, 2023.

This is when we can change or update your Prescription Drug Plan or Medicare Advantage plan for 2024 - as needed.

(The earliest we can SPEAK with you about changes for next year is October 1.)

Remember, we must submit your applications between October 15 - December 7 to receive a January 1, 2024, effective date.

Good News: Improvements to Medicare

In 2023, Medicare limited the cost of insulin to $35/month and started covering the Shingrix vaccine for $0.
In 2024, Medicare will eliminate the “catastrophic copay” after one reaches their annual maximum out-of-pocket cost on drugs.
In 2024, you can sign your "Scope of Appointment" form NOW - stating which products you wish to discuss with us - and it remains valid for the next 12 months.

Bad News: Price Increases

In 2024, most Part D plan premiums will be rising dramatically and the brand-name deductible for most plans will rise to $545 (up from $505 in 2023). Therefore, we MUST do the research now to identify your best option for next year before you get stuck in a high-cost prescription plan.

We will do this for you at no additional cost. If you have no or few prescriptions, you will want to move to a particular Part D plan that is offering a very low premium. Either way, it’s more important than ever to review your prescription plan prior to 2024 open enrollment — to make sure you have the right plan to meet your needs, with your pharmacy and network, at the lowest possible cost.

Please take time to review your ANOC (Annual Notice of Changes) that will be mailed to you by your current Part D plan or MAPD plan by the end of September!

In order for us to find the best Part D plan for you in 2024, we need you to UPDATE YOUR PRESCRIPTION LIST by using this link (OR by texting/emailing your current list to us):

We will then use this information to research the Part D which will cost you the LEAST in 2024.

Why is this large price increase happening?

Most Part D plan costs will double in 2024 -- partly because the new law restricts plans from increasing rates more than 6% each year starting in 2025 ... so the insurance companies are taking a huge increase THIS year to compensate for that future restriction.

Part B Premiums Increase in 2024

Most Medicare Part B premiums will LIKELY go up to $174.80 for 2024, an increase of $10. The annual deductible for Part B HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED FOR 2024, BUT WE'RE EXPECTING a slight increase from $226 in 2023.

Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plan will be discontinued in 2024

If you currently have the Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plan (65+) in Ventura County, it will be discontinued in 2024. But the good news is that you now have the ability to (a) change to any other MAPD in your area, OR (b) change to a Blue Shield MedSupp Plan G + any Part D starting January 1, 2024!
