You did all the hard work of working with your broker to apply, compare and enroll in a health insurance plan to protect your medical needs and financial liabilities!
So now what?!?

THE TOP 3 THINGS TO DO AFTER YOU ENROLL IN HEALTH INSURANCE

CHECK YOUR MAIL
Soon, you’ll have emails and paper mail coming to you!
Make sure not to disregard those things, but read them.
Look for any updates.
Expect to get a lot of “generic” reminders and some “specific” info just for you and your plan.
Keep in mind that your member ID cards will take 1-2 weeks to arrive in the mail. Be patient knowing they are on their way!

SET UP AUTOPAY
Now that you’re enrolled in health insurance, the one thing that can take it away from you is… lack of payment!
You have to make your premium payments every month, on time.
It’s easy to forget, so call your insurance carrier or create an account online and set up autopay!
You always want to “automate the important”!

KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR MEDICAL SERVICES
Your insurance carrier will have a unique network of doctors, contracted with that company. These are the doctors you have access to.
So, log onto your insurance carrier’s website and search for a doctor.
Be aware that you are often randomly assigned a “Primary Care Provider/Physician” and you can always change that by contacting your insurance company.
Also, search for the nearest Urgent Care facility and Hospital.
You want to know where to go… if and when you need quick medical attention.
