When you file a claim with your auto insurance for an accident, you can expect two things to happen:
They will cover the claim (according to your policy)
They will raise your rates on the next policy!
Why would they raise your rates? It’s because insurance is all about perceived and transferred risk. When you have a claim on your auto and home insurance, you become a heightened “risk” and so insurance carriers charge you accordingly.
So, if you have a clean driving record now… make sure that your rates don’t go up when/if you have an accident!

Add Accident Forgiveness to your auto insurance policy!
Most carriers will offer this extra coverage.
It just costs a few more dollars a month… and you can guarantee that when/if you have an accident and make a claim… your insurance rates won’t skyrocket next term!
