What Not To Do with Your Auto Insurance
Use it?
We all have insurance so we can use it when we need it, right?
So, you might be surprised to hear me give you this tip…
There are times when I will highly encourage you to NOT use your auto insurance.
Yes, really! There are times when I would suggest you NOT to make an insurance claim and to just eat the cost or deal with the damage.
For example, if you walk out to the parking lot and see that someone has scratched your car, maybe a shopping cart hit it, what will you do? Now you know that you have a low comprehensive deductible of just $100, so you can call your insurance company, make a claim and they will pay to fix it.
However, what if the cost to repair the damage is just $300.
Do you still make the claim?
You could… but in many scenarios I’d encourage you to NOT make the claim and instead to just pay for the damage out of pocket.
The reason why is that every time you make a claim on your insurance, there is the potential for insurance premiums to go up! There is also the possibility that another insurance company wouldn’t want to take you on as a new client, if you have several insurance claims on your record.
Of course if there is major damage or it’s a collision or anything that requires medical attention… make the insurance claim.
However, there may be times when you don’t want to make the claim.
In Summary:
What Not To Do with Your Auto Insurance
if the damage is small and the cost is low… it may be wise to pay out of pocket and not make the insurance claim.
